TEE-OFF PLATE

The 18 in. (45 cm) long tee-off plate is used to play all strokes (except putts) and serves essentially as a floor protector. Narrower at the front and wider at the rear, it looks like an arrowhead that the students can point in the direction of their swings. Along the middle of the plate, from front to back, there is a white line serving as a reference for the direction of the stroke.

The back end of the plate is shaped like a handle to make carrying easier. Finally, a rubber tee is built into the tee-off plate to which it remains affixed while the plate is being carried.

The tee dimensions were figured out in function of a number of factors. First, its diameter had to be sufficient to hold the ball in place even when the plate sits on a slope. The top of the tee is 0.75 in. (2 cm) above the plate. Proportionately, this corresponds to the height at which a golf ball sits when very well placed and supported by grass.
